Maroons Fan Day A Success

By Andrew Allen

Approximately 5,000 Gladstone locals filled Goondoon Street on Wednesday this week to cheer on the mighty Queensland State of Origin side.

Gladstone was selected at the location for the 2016 Queensland Maroons Fan Day, an event held in a regional location each year since 2012.

With Goondoon Street closed to traffic, Rugby League superstars including Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk, Greg Ingles, Corey Parker, Corey Oats and Darius Boyd walked the street interacting with Gladstone fans young and old. Even Queensland Coach, Kevin Walters, enjoyed the Gladstone hospitality.

An exciting event for Gladstone on the day that Queensland selectors announced the team for the 2nd game of the series next Wednesday at Suncorp Stadium.
